Les Ailes du Moulin Rouge return to the stage on July 5 at 11 p.m.!

On the eve of its 135th anniversary, this emblem of Paris finds its wings in a flamboyant show which will be celebrated on July 5 at 11 p.m. sharp. An unforgettable evening awaits, promising a magnificent lighting of the famous wings – which fell at the end of April in a shattering upheaval – around a spectacular sound and light, animated by a unique performance of French Cancan by the dancers of the most largest cabaret in the world in front of the iconic facade. The new blades, made of steel and aluminum, each weigh 110 kilos and respect the original aesthetic of the mill.

Installing these new wings was a complex process. As soon as they arrived in Paris on Monday June 24, they were put up one by one on the terrace during a meticulous operation supervised by the architect Stéphane Rousseau. The work was carried out behind a tarpaulin, which will be removed on Monday July 1, , allowing the element of surprise to be preserved for the inauguration.

The return of the wings of the Moulin Rouge marks a symbolic moment for local residents, who were shocked and moved on April 26 by the fall of the old wings around 1:45 a.m., fortunately without cause injuries.

The return of the temporary wings, although not functional, is an important step before the installation of the definitive wings, capable of rotating. This revival of the Moulin Rouge is a celebration of its history and its continuing role in the Parisian cultural landscape. The July 5 event promises to be memorable, marking not only the return of the wings, but also the approach of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Over the years, the Moulin Rouge has hosted iconic figures like Mistinguett, Edith Piaf, Yves Montand, Charles Trenet, and Charles Aznavour, contributing to its legendary status. It is here that the French Cancan took off, thanks to legendary artists like La Goulue and Jane Avril, immortalized by the painter Toulouse-Lautrec. Today, the magic still happens with the Féerie revue, where a troupe of 80 artists ignite the stage with dazzling costumes of feathers, rhinestones and sequins, attracting 600,000 spectators each year.
