Was further proof needed that the Centre Pompidou is the epicenter of Parisian “cool”? Yet here is one, visible from June 26, 2024: the monumental and colorful installation by Raphaël Zarka, an immense “skatable” sculpture specifically designed to be installed on the Piazza du Center Pompidou. After Calder's large Horizontal mobile, Caesar's Thumb or even Jean-Pierre Raynaud's The Golden Pot, it is now Cyclonoid Piazza which is set up in front of the largest Art Center in Europe .

Metamorphosed, the emblematic place becomes more than ever a new meeting place, an urban agora where skate culture expands to music, looks and body postures. Like a mini-square designed to fill the famous Parisian square, this unique place promises to become an unmissable place in the capital for this summer of 2024. Here, the skate ramp is surrounded by stands and stairs, passageways and podiums. where visitors can come to walk, rest, meet or go skiing...

At the crossroads of culture and sport, passable by amateur or professional skateboarders, Cycloide Piazza is a living sculpture where skate culture and the architecture of skateparks meet , but also geometric abstraction and scientific research on movement which fascinate the French artist. After a first sketch in 2011 in New York and another in Toulouse in 2018, the artist, creator of life-size arcuate curves wants to illustrate the laws of physics and mechanics with the living! If skateboarding has been an official sport of the Olympic Games since this year, it has also become art, as illustrated by the terribly lively programming planned by the Center to accompany this new work!
