Video: The exhibition of Vincent van Gogh's last months in Auvers-sur-Oise at the Musée d'Orsay
How did seventy days in the life of a man forever change the history of art? The Musée d'Orsay is trying to unravel the Van Gogh mystery with this exhibition which, for the first time in France, will only focus on his very latest works, created in Auvers-sur-Oise. It is here that his doctor and friend, Doctor Gachet, resides, whose impressive portrait we can obviously admire. It is also here that there are its infamous wheat fields, invaded by crows with a dark omen, painted just a few weeks before the tragedy...
Between May 20, 1890 and July 27 of the same year when the artist ended up committing the irreparable, Vincent Van Gogh experienced the most frenetic creative period of his career. Every day, the artist paints, creating 74 paintings in 70 days.
