Video: LEGO The Art of the Brick madness takes over the Galeries Montparnasse with Nathan Sawaya
Lego fans, you are likely to be delighted. Nathan Sawaya is back in the capital with this exhibition of a million bricks which has been touring the world for almost 10 years, enhanced with new, never-before-seen pieces for each stage of this long journey. At the age of 50, this former New York business lawyer has managed to retain his childish soul and proves it in this completely crazy exhibition built, brick by brick, around his unwavering love for the famous Danish construction game. .
Here, each work is designed by hand by the artist who tells us that he has always been fascinated by this construction game, since he was little, when his parents refused to have a dog, well he built one, full size, in his bedroom... Since then, Nathan Sawaya has never stopped unleashing his creative freedom. On the program of this exhibition, we will find his now famous reinterpretations of the greatest masterpieces of art history, which could well reconcile the youngest with the paintings of the great masters, Leonardo da Vinci, Klimt, Munch or even Rodin literally seem to step out of the frame. We will be able to admire this impressive T-Rex made of more than 80,000 bricks, perhaps a little too big to go unnoticed under the Christmas tree. So to finish, we console ourselves by dancing in this hypnotizing installation, inhabited by 250 skulls, which vibrate to the rhythm of the music. A nice get-together to enjoy with the family this winter.
