Video: Insert Coin, the pop exhibition at Monnaie de Paris
A little game of pinball, what do you think? Come on, follow us, this is where it’s happening. The Monnaie de Paris throws out the rules like at the museum you only touch with your eyes, here it's even better, we'll be able to play. During this furiously pop and regressive exhibition, the institution is transformed into a gigantic (and sublime) arcade room, in the flashy colors of the 70s and 80s. So here the rules of the game are simple: you have coins specially published by the Monnaie de Paris (some will recognize, not without nostalgia, the 1 Franc coin from our childhood) and off you go to activate your favorite games among around forty machines irresistible retro. And they are all there, the table football from our beginnings, the pinball machine on which some may have lost their nerve a little (there is even its out-of-service version in a wink which reveals to us the underside of these game mechanics), the romantic jukebox which allowed us to share our favorite records with café customers or to send a little musical message, the arcade game obviously for joystick pros who risk passing their tokens to try to smash the high score of PacMan or Donkey Kong... The name of this exhibition is obvious: "insert coin" obviously, this little phrase which will have annoyed more than one, at the exact moment when the game stops and we Ask for a small coin to continue the game. A time when you couldn't move around without a coin in your pocket, and where games were shared over a drink or a coffee, with friends, in bars or games rooms. So no more consoles alone at home, here we go out and have fun, at the museum!
