Video: Liminal Objects, What will fashion look like tomorrow? The free Bicolore exhibition at the House of Denmark
It’s an exhibition that promises to shake things up. Head to the Bicolore plateau, the contemporary art space of the Maison du Denmark in Paris, nestled in the heart of the Champs-Elysées to discover a completely different vision of fashion, far from rhinestones and sequins. Here eight great designers present to us experimental fashion, coming from the Nordic countries, combining the genius of the artist with the visionary audacity of the couturier. A fashion that speaks out and expresses itself on our world in a contemporary critique that pushes the limits of creation. Inflatable latex outfits offering bubbles as protective as they are suffocating, vintage jacket made of ballpoint pens, or fisherman's mesh lace decorated with thousands of glass beads pulsing to the rhythm of the heart, these extraordinary creations leave the catwalks for a fascinating exhibition. Nothing here is what it seems. Opposites merge in pieces that play on ambiguities. Is it fashion? Or art? The creators decide not to choose. Here they invent a trend laboratory that prohibits nothing, blurring the boundaries between disciplines and talents to push the limits and write new stories. Here a sumptuous mermaid dress in silver spoons quietly dialogues with a sofa patchwork of leather handbags, while an exuberant silhouette replays Victorian fashion in a sculpture in pop and electrifying colors. We are witnessing the emergence of a true aesthetic revolution in this inspired and inspiring fashion show, which reminds us that the fashion world can also play a role in beautifying the world.
