Macparis returns for a spectacular new 2024 edition at the Bastille Design Center

It’s “the” spring meeting for all lovers of contemporary art. Macparis returns for a new striking edition here at the Bastille design Center in the heart of Paris. 20 artists, rigorously selected for their uncompromising art, sheltered from the eternal repetitions dictated by the art market. What do the 20 artists selected here have in common? the diversity and even the diversion of their mediums, the technical excellence coupled with a totally unbridled creative audacity, and above all, the quest for meaning in their artistic expression, freeing themselves from the constraints of the market and the trends of the moment. The result is there, we move from the masterful Vanities of Isabel Lemaire to the great chaos of Hervé Bourdin, confining our humanities in tin cans of electric colors as in a cruel and mischievous game of hide and seek... A few steps away , Brigit Ber revisits the cyanotype in spectacular wall hangings, while Fabien Jouanneau plays on our perceptions with his weightless veils of paintings. Rach’mell, the pointillist perforator, transforms plastic waste into superb sculptures in sparkling colors. Here Pascale Ract revisits the art of marquetry in monumental, organic, living floating sculptures which are organized in an enchanting choreography. Hypnotizing. And what about the slate lace work of Gabrielle Herveet, a sculptor with silver hands who places stone scales in the waves of her works. We also fell in love with Léonard Alixant, barely 21 years old, with his all-overs which depict pop-culture icons in a labyrinth of visual fragments without beginning or end. SO ? Do you still think that contemporary art no longer knows how to reinvent itself?
