It is a jewel of modern art in the heart of the Cévennes. After welcoming Jean Arp and George Braque, the Musée-Bibliothèque Pierre André Benoit in Alès takes us this summer to meet the last Picasso. The man who hides behind the icon, the one who engraved in the privacy of his home in Mougins, during the last twelve years of his life, one of the most beautiful scores of his art.

Painter, draftsman, sculptor... A new chapter will open for this tireless experimenter who will then merge all of his talents, combining the narrative power of his most beautiful paintings with the precision of his line, in engravings that encapsulate the entire genesis of his work. In the privacy of his property, Picasso then engraved these copper plates on his dining room table, in an unprecedented graphic frenzy, thus signing nearly 750 plates, around fifty of which are presented in this remarkable exhibition.

His famous engraver, Aldo Crommelynck, will settle in the South to write this final artistic page with him. It is there that he will send neighbors, friends, cousins to make countless return trips by bicycle or moped, to bring him the engraved plaques, giving birth to this famous copper route. Here we discover behind the scenes of a complex and little-known art, mixing artistic genius with technical excellence, to bring about new masterpieces, available in an infinite number of nuances and variations, to be observed in this impressive room bringing together thirteen states of the same engraving side by side. This exhibition paying tribute to the last Picasso ends in these privileged spaces, here at PAB, printer, artist, poet, for whom Picasso created priceless creations, signing together seventeen artist books.
