Dalí Paris: Discover the permanent collections of the Parisian temple of surrealism in pictures
Dalí Paris
Permanent collections
“Surrealism, that’s me!”. It’s hard to argue with him, given how deeply his delirious poetry, his dreams of carnal desires, and his obsessive works haunt the collective imagination. But did you know that the prophetic Salvador Dalí has a museum dedicated to him in the heart of Paris? Join us on the heights of Montmartre for an irresistible stroll through the brilliant mind of a sculptor of dreams. Dripping watches, triumphant victories, elephants with arachnid legs, and giant snails: the largest private collection of the surrealist genius in France, the result of a providential encounter between Salvador Dalí and the gallery owner Beniamino Levi, plunges us headfirst into the phantasmagorical universe of the Spanish painter.
A theater of all extravagances, this eccentric museum houses over 300 collector's items, fetish objects, and fantastical works. Between erotic drawings and hallucinatory canvases, this veritable cabinet of curiosities brings Dalinian metamorphoses to life in captivating bronze sculptures, such as this Venus with Drawers, this horse of time, or this Alice in Wonderland, an eternal young girl responding to the world's confusion with the ingenuousness and candor of a surrealist icon.
