The Body and the Machine

The female body and the machine form a coalition constraint, sometimes a ardent resistance 19}. The Tinguely Museum, the usual home of the Basel master's crafted sculptures, is daring this summer to present a collective exhibition 25} through a feminist lens. Several generations of artists question how industry has shaped, controlled, exploited – and sometimes liberated – the female and feminized body, from the factory loom to 21st-century home software.
