Exhibition "Tiny Lives" at the Pantheon
PANTHEON
From September 25, 2026 to January 31, 2027
At the Pantheon, the invisible finally becomes monumental. We went there, here are our images before anyone else:
At the heart of the Pantheon, a monument dedicated to the great figures of the nation, theCentre Pompidou and theCentre des monuments nationaux are installing the Small Lives. The title refers to the book byPierre Michon who, in 1984, devoted eight poetic portraits to unknown people and figures from his circle. The exhibition explores three themes: the infinitesimal, this "inframince" so dear to Marcel Duchamp; the intimate, where women and subaltern populations were long relegated; and the infamous, echoing Michel Foucault. Three ways of making existences visible. Some thirty artists, from František Kupka to Jumana Manna, occupy the nave. Christian Boltanski presents Monument, Jochen Gerz a silent video, while Leonilson offers a poetic ink drawing.
The artworks engage in a dialogue with the space: Mohamed Bourouissa's horsemen respond to those of the National Convention, and Francis Alÿs's children's games stand alongside the monument to Rousseau. Three artists created works specifically for the Pantheon: Adrianna Wallis, based on lost letters; Sara Favriau, with miniature walkways dedicated to "little hands"; and Adela Součková, whose structure forms a counter-architecture in the north transept.
