Metamorphoses Exhibition: Hats from Maison Michel at 19M
The 19M Gallery
From September 23 to December 13, 2026
A few centimeters above the face, and the whole look changes. Neither Hercule Poirot nor Beyoncé would disagree.
The highly respected Maison Michel reveals the techniques that bring a hat to life, from raw material to the finished product. Felt, straw, expertise: hands prepare this metamorphosis.
The exhibition unfolds in four stages—Origins, Transformation, Metamorphoses, Fulfillment. The chosen material, the hand that shapes it, the emerging form, and then what the hat becomes once placed on a head. Archival pieces and recent collaborations with young designers resonate from one room to the next.
One machine takes center stage: the Weismann, restored in 1975, which perfectly encapsulates the house—innovation and tradition, lightness and sturdiness.
What if we tried, in turn, another version of ourselves?
It's free, but reservations are required: find it in our top free exhibitions and among new exhibitions in Paris.
