Uprising, by Angelin Preljocaj, at the Théâtre de la Ville

Angelin Preljocaj transforms the crowd into choreographic material: twelve bodies that assemble, fall, and rise again, set to the techno of Irène Drésel.

Sit-ins, marches, panting, tears: Angelin Preljocaj draws on citizen gatherings for the material of a piece about collective energy. Twelve performers run, collide, collapse, and start again, until the group becomes a single body. The techno of Irène Drésel pushes the stage, the lighting of Éric Soyer dissects it. A creation for the Théâtre de la Ville.
