The major Robert Doisneau exhibition in Lyon
LA SUCRIÈRE - LYON
Until February 28, 2027
To mark the Bicentennial of Photography, the renowned photographer Robert Doisneau—or rather, his studio—is being celebrated at La Sucrière in Lyon.
This is a major exhibition, embracing its retrospective nature. Robert Doisneau, one of the greatestmasters of 20th-century photography, is showcased here in all his splendor with some 350 photographs. These encompass his entire output, from the early 1930s to the end of his career.
The exhibition brings together both his most iconic images and many previously unseen photographs, offering a comprehensive and fresh perspective on his work. Following its great success in Paris, La Sucrière is hosting another major stop on the exhibition's international tour, enriched by a selection of previously unseen photographs of Lyon. Indeed, that's the whole point of this exhibition: to take the time to discover, for example, the Lyon card players and other urban scenes that have graced the postcard racks of Old Lyon for many years.

The Lyon photographs were taken by Robert Doisneau in 1950, at the request of Vogue magazine.
