Tate Modern traces the birth of pictorialism, the first international movement to claim photography as an art form. More than fifty photographers, from Seoul to Sydney.

From the 1880s to the 1960s, they played with blur, light, and sophisticated printing techniques to rival painting. Under the title Light and Magic: The Birth of Art Photography, a sensitive global panorama unfolds, where the lens becomes the paintbrush.
