Imagine retracing 650 years of reign in one day and witnessing in the space of a few hours the advent, the coronation and then the inevitable decline of one of the most powerful European dynasties of the last millennium. More than a hundred years after their fall, the Hofburg – the former residence of the Austrian imperial family – invites us to follow in the footsteps of the Habsburgs in their final resting place, between pomp and splendor.

From the founding fathers at the end of the Middle Ages to the abdication of Charles I following the First World War, this new audio-guided journey immerses us in the eventful history of the imperial lineage. On our way, we cross paths with four Austrian monarchs, six kings of Spain and twenty-one emperors of the Holy Roman Empire before crossing the collections of Historical Weapons, Armor and Musical Instruments.

Guided by the romantic figure of Empress Sissi, this journey through the corridors of time is punctuated by remarkable objects such as this pianoforte on which Mozart played or this wax bust of the composer Joseph Haydn. It is in this marvelous setting that are the private apartments of the clan that we follow with the greatest attention this story full of triumphs, dramas and tragedies.
